Snow Days!!!

Wow, did we get snowed in! After a few months of mild winter, we've been socked by lots of cold and lots of snow. Twelve inches here at home and seventeen just a little farther north in the counties that Kristin and I travel to for work. I was dumb enough to drive to work on Tuesday morning as the blizzard was just beginning to gain momentum. At one point during the trip to work I came across a group of stranded cars that had bottomed out in a snow drift between two ninety-degree turns in the country road that I travel. One Japanese fellow with a very thick "Engrish" accent took up my offer for a ride to town. It sure made for an interesting ride! After a couple of prompts and pauses and "ooooooooooooooohs" and "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahs" in the conversation I gathered that he worked in a factory just down the street from mine. In the end, he was very grateful for the ride and I was very happy that I could help!

After yet another day of drama watching the news and trying to figure out if we had to travel to and from work or not (I didn't but Kristin did), the sun finally came out and gave us the opportunity to dig out and enjoy the new snow ... and boy did we! From the pictures it's obvious that Maddy was just having a blast while Amelia was trying to figure out what all the fuss was about. Be sure to check out all of the photos in our Picasa Web Album!

We're definately going to try to enjoy this snow for as long as we can. It has been almost thirty years since Indiana has had a snow like this! Heck, I was about three years old myself ... but being out there in the snow with the kids sure made me feel like a kid myself again.
