Amelia and I sent the evening together while Maddy went to a birthday party at Bounce Planet.  We had a good evening as Amelia sat in one of the IKEA chairs and drew with her pencil.

Daddy bought some play-doh today at Target.  I was surprised at how many colors they actually make in these sets.  The girls were making strawberries, waffles and pears.  Tonight we are going to a wedding in Frankfort for one of Matt's friends.  Oh, and Amelia's potty training is going really well.  She wore little undies to school this week.  K

Yep, we got a little bit of snow the other day. Our wonderful neighbor cleared out driveway for us before we got home from work. It was great! The girls love the snow. And they would have stayed out longer if Mommy would have some proper snow pants for them. Maybe next year. K

Sunday we took a trip to Costco (usually a monthly trip). This is a picture of Hazel Dell Parkway. They have been putting in round-abouts and widening the road for quite a while. We're ready for the construction to be over.

This is probably one of my all-time favorite things...a box of crayons. Even though I call them crowns according to my mother and husband. I think it's the way that I said it when I was little and it has stuck ever since. I think I was more excited than Maddy at Christmas when she opened this new big box of colors!   K

This is my usual routine for Sundays and sometimes Saturdays...the laundry. I spend lots of time searching for mates to socks, twisting up tights into balls and stuffing drawers with folded pants. K

Well I tried to post this yesterday but our internet was out again. Matt thinks that AT&T is doing work near our area and that's what is causing the issues. We also lost our power for about 2 hours in the afternoon. The girls played together and at one point I saw Amelia walking around with her arm wrapped. It was definitely a professional wrap job with toilet paper and a barrette to keep in on. Nurse Wendy would be proud of Maddy's work I think. K

Amelia really loves climbing the bunk bed ladder every chance she gets. We went to Bounce Planet tonight and she loved climbing all the inflated ladders leading to the gigantic slides. I was a little nervous that she was going to get trampled by the older kids, but they didn't even phase her. She was having a blast....and of course did not want to leave. K

Maddy and Amelia did such a great job of playing together this afternoon when we came home from school. They were sitting on the living room floor playing with the magnetic paper dolls. These dolls are so much fun and much more durable than paper dolls. For now, they are perfect for the girls. Amelia is prone to ripping apart anything she gets her little hands on.

Amelia was helping me make dinner also. She was mainly just watching but occasionally she would grab a long wooden spoon and try to stir. Just a typically evening. K

I remember reading this book when I was young. Or maybe it was read to me. I think it was at Grandma and Grandpa's house. And it may have been one of those books that Darlene and FM gave to us. I saw this at Christmas time and decided to get it for Amelia. We read this book tonight and it really captivated the girls. There were lots of giggles at the character names....especially Turkey Lurkey. What's funny is that I didn't remember the book ending with Foxy Loxy and his family eating Henny Penny, Cocky Locky, Ducky Lucky, Goosey Loosey, and Turkey Lurkey. It's still a good book. K

This is Chloe and me patiently waiting for the internet to work. For the past couple of weeks we have to reboot the router (or something like that....Matt knows for sure) in order to get the internet working. And then after it starts working, we never know how long it will last. Technology...bleah!!!! K

Today started out great with my favorite breakfast....granola blues pancakes from Le Peep. I'm taking a cue from Hugo and posting a picture of my food. And the pancakes lived up to their reputation. This was the send off breakfast for Mom and Ron who will be in Florida for a little while.

And we finally did it. That is, took the girls to Build-A-Bear. It was fun and Maddy has been playing with her bear all afternoon. She named hers Princess Leia and Amelia, who chose a pink monkey, named him Boo Boo Luke Skywalker. K

This is actually the second cake to make it on the blog in less than one month.  Tonight we celebrated Mary Lou's birthday (Matt's Mom).  January is a big birthday month for our family. And I know that I have missed a few days worth of posts so I am posting three pictures to make up for it.  Hopefully this won't become a habit....but you never know.  K

This is Maddy and her favorite baby cousin, Oliver.  She was holding him on the floor for a bit.  He's just the sweetest baby and the girls both adore him.

And finally....this picture is proof that I am doing a fine job at trying to raise well mannered, genteel, respectable little girls.  Wouldn't you agree?  K

This is Daddy's new toy! Well relatively new anyway. This year we went to visit Santa at Clay Terrace and I had been talking it up quite a bit with Amelia so that maybe she might sit on his lap. And it worked. I think mainly because she watched Maddy go through it first. But what was really great was that she decided to ask Santa for a Mini Cooper. Unfortunately, I don't think Santa knew what she was talking about. It was pretty comical....K

We are the really smart parents who decide to turn on the music right before bedtime so that we can get the girls all excited and ready for bed....duh! Maddy received a Hello Kitty CD Player for her birthday. She has wanted to play music in her room for a long time. She has a CD of the music from the Disney princess movies and loves it. Amelia likes it too and dances along but I'm not convinced that she would do it if Maddy wasn't around. They are very different little girls. K

So many Barbies, so little time. Wouldn't it be great if every once in a while all you had to do for the day is figure out which outfit goes on which Barbie......K

It was a sea of little pink fairies at Maddy's 5th birthday party with her friends. And the Sugar Buzz lived up to it's name. Maddy was definitely getting her sugar buzz on. I think all of the girls had a great time and the parents were completely amused. The snow that came during the party wasn't as bad as predicted so all ended well. K

The other day we received our new 2009 calendars from my aunt and uncle in Seattle. And they arrived only two days after ordering....what excellent customer service! Today's was Maddy's birthday party with 15 of her friends from school. All girls, and all dressed in pink fairy wings and pink tutus. We just got back so none of the pictures are off the camera. That will be a project for tomorrow. By the way, the name of the party place was Sugar Buzz and it definitely lived up to it's name for Maddy and Amelia. K

I can tell that ONLY one picture a day may become a problem for me as opposed to not having a picture. Again just putting one wasn't going to work for me today. After the girls came home from school, Maddy really wanted to play outside...in the 36 degree weather. I think she is feeling a little cooped up. So we spent some time in the backyard. We are definitely glad to see the weekend here. K

Happy Birthday, Madolyn!!!
So today I cheated and posted two pictures. But I couldn't resist. Today Maddy turns 5 and just about everyone that she has come into contact with knows it. The first thing out of her mouth as the doors opened to school this morning was, "It's my birthday!." And I believe that she got the royal treatment throughout the day, including her very own birthday crown made by her teacher. She says she wore it just about the entire day. It has been a very fast 5 years and I truly can't believe that she will start kindergarten this year...where does the time go? K

Our days start really early around here. Not only were the girls tired this morning but so was the photographer. Matt is up by 4:30 am and me at 4:45 am. We wake the girls at 5:30 am and have a short half hour to get them ready to leave by 6:00 am for work and school. It's no wonder why we usually end up asleep by 9:30 pm. K

Here's my new toy. It's a die cutter that Mom and Ron gave me for Christmas. It's really pretty fun.

Well, today was back to work and school. The morning went better than expected on the "wake up" front. But the girls were definitely ready for bed tonight. And so am I....K

Today is our last day before we head back to work and school. Amelia spent the afternoon munching on an apple while she watched some of Stars Wars. She tells everyone that she is "Yuke" Skywalker, Daddy is "Dark" Vader, Maddy is Princess Leia and Mommy is Padme...and she wants to have a Star Wars birthday.

Organized my ribbons last night and this morning. I am realizing that I never need to buy more ribbon. We had a great get- together this afternoon with Matt's family at his Grammy's house. And Amelia fell at least three times today...bit her tongue, scraped her cheek and I'm not sure about the damage from the third fall. K

Happy New Year!  I am going to try to post a picture every day this year. We will see if it really happens. And they are just going to be pictures of our everyday life so nothing special. This first one is the birthday cake that Wendy made yesterday. It was awesome. The recipe can be found on the back of the Hershey Special Dark Cocoa container. Apparently, Hugo is the master at creating this cake although Wendy took a stab at it and it turned out great. We've been spending lots of time at home lately over the holidays. Starting back to work and school on Monday will be tough. Matt says he would like about another week and the girls agree!
